We have been so fortunate to be a part of this community.
One exciting “addition” to our lives, more recently, is the Art Factory.
On their website, the Art Factory explains themselves by saying
The Art Factory Corp is a dedicated group of artists of faith which was formed in 2010 for the purpose of investing time, energy and opportunities into the lives of emerging artists. We also seek to enliven, rejuvenate, and restore communities world-wide via the Arts in particular Visual Arts. Based in the Black Forest region of southwest Germany, near to the borders of Switzerland and France, our organization, The Art Factory, seeks to bring emerging artists together from around the world, who will engage in their culture and community, through their art form. We encourage community involvement and learning.
How cool is that?
Jeremy attends a community painting class with the Art Factory on Thursday nights. Each night includes an advanced painter’s exercise that each person tackles. At the end of the night, each person shares what they accomplished in the set time-frame (usually one hour). This opens dialogue with each artist about their piece of work… what is really great and how to continue to grow and improve as a fine artist.
Jeremy found himself surprised and inspired with these evenings of art.
“This is a gift that God has put inside of me. It’s a language… a way of sharing in the process of “creation” with Him. Eric Liddell said, ‘God made me fast. And when I run, I feel His pleasure.’ In that same way, I feel God’s pleasure as I use the gift of creativity… which is a part of His character. It’s also been a great way to connect with other artists in the community. My prayer is that this will also become something God uses as ministry here in Germany, peripherally to the work He is already doing as I work to keep missionaries serving in their front-line jobs.” -Jeremy
The Art Factory also hosts “Dinner & Dialogue” – a night with a meal and a specific topic for discussion. Jeremy and I attended our first D&D this past Thursday. The topic was on “Finding Your Artistic Voice.” The room was filled with folks from the community from many different artistic focusses… writers, screen writers, painters, musicians, film makers, sculptors .. the list goes on and on. I met three more writers that night, writers who want to stay connected and support one another!
We hope to stay connected with the Art Factory as opportunities arise. These gifts of ours… for fine arts, writing, and music… open up a great many doors of opportunity for us in engaging with the community… as well as providing a healing salve for our hearts and minds and an outlet for our soul-expression.
Enjoy these other photos of our time with the Art Factory so far.
